Citizen Review Board
The Citizen Review Board (CRB) is an independent panel of Covington residents established to promote transparency, enhance communication, and foster trust and respect between the Covington Police Department and the community it serves.

The CRB reviews completed internal investigations involving use of force, as well as other matters of importance or interest to the community.

- Evaluate whether investigations were conducted in accordance with department policies and procedures
- Make recommendations regarding investigations and department policies
- Promote accountability, transparency, and public confidence in the Covington Police Department
THE CRB DOES NOT:

Conduct independent investigations

Handle emergencies or active incidents

Replace the department’s internal investigative process

Impose discipline (final authority remains with the Chief of Police)

Complaints submitted to the Citizen Review Board are logged and forwarded to the Covington Police Department within two business days for review in accordance with established procedures.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU SUBMIT A COMPLAINT
- The complaint is received and logged by the Citizen Review Board
- The complaint is forwarded to the Covington Police Department within two business days
- The Police Department conducts an internal investigation
- Upon completion, the Citizen Review Board reviews the investigation
- The CRB may make recommendations based on its review
MEETINGS & TRANSPARENCY
The Citizen Review Board meets at least quarterly. All meetings are open to the public in accordance with the Georgia Open Meetings Act.
