How to Set Up a Property Release Appointment
Covington Police Department’s Evidence and Property room is open for property returns/releases from Monday through Friday 8:00 am-5:00pm. During these hours, you can request an appointment to retrieve your property from Covington Police Department. Covington Police’s Evidence and Property room is located at Covington Police Department at 13183 Harland Dr. NE, Covington, GA 30014.
Inquiries for Property Involved in Criminal Cases
Please note that evidence involved in ongoing investigations or court proceedings are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Evidence involved in an open Superior Court case cannot be released to the owner unless it is approved and/or requested by the court or the investigators assigned to the case.
Found Property
Found property will be held for 90 days from the date it was received by Covington Police Department. After 90 days the property will be disposed of pursuant to Georgia Law.
Personal Property Obtained During an Arrest
If an individual is arrested and taken to a jail, the individual should contact the jail at which they were held prior to contacting Covington Police Department in regard to obtaining personal property that may have been in their possession at the time of arrest.

Please have your case number available when contacting Covington Police’s Evidence and Property Room. When coming in person to retrieve property, please have a valid form of ID that can be presented to the Evidence Technician.
